Individual Practice Time

Assign practice.
See how it went.

IPT is a practice app for music instructors and the performers they teach. Set the work and a weekly target, and see what each performer actually did. They can attach a short recording; you listen and write back.

Look around a demo studio Create an account

The demo has three weeks of practice already in it: a roster, assigned work, standings and recordings. Nothing to set up, and no account needed. Already have one? Sign in.

The listening queue: one performer's recording, the plan they worked through, and a line to send back. An instructor's dashboard: who met the target this week, who has logged nothing, and twelve recordings waiting to be heard.

Assignments, with a weekly target

Set a target for one performer or the whole studio, and add notes on what to work on: hands separate, take it at 72, fix the release in bar 12. Your notes stay on the screen while they practice, and each line can be ticked off as it is worked.

Optional recordings

A performer can attach a short recording to a session and flag the moments they want heard. IPT never stops another app's metronome, so whatever is playing in the room is captured with them. An instructor can turn recording off for a whole studio.

A dashboard that sorts itself

It lists the performers who are behind before the ones who are fine, rather than in alphabetical order. Open somebody's week, hear anything they sent, and write a line back.

What it does

Assigning

  • Assign to one performer, a section, or the whole studio.
  • Weekly targets in minutes or in sessions.
  • Notes on what to work on, which a performer ticks off as they go.
  • See which of those nobody in the studio has worked yet.
  • Duplicate last week's work instead of typing it again.

Hearing it back

  • A short recording on a session, if a performer wants one.
  • They flag the moments, and a flagged recording starts there.
  • One queue, taking one performer at a time.
  • Reply in a line. The performer is told when you do.
  • Turn recording off for the whole studio, in one tap.

Running a studio

  • A dashboard ordered by who is behind, not alphabetically.
  • Standings and streaks, tuneable, or switched off entirely.
  • Terms, so a summer or an exam week ends nobody's streak.
  • A written season summary to send on.
  • A board for the room, sized for a projector or a screen.
  • A second instructor, and a way to hand the studio over.

For a performer

  • Start a session before you play, or write one down afterward.
  • What your instructor asked for, on screen while you practice.
  • Delete a recording and keep the session, in any week.
  • Works with no signal. Nothing is lost in a practice room.
  • Reminders you can turn down or off.
  • A Home Screen widget and a Face ID lock, on iPhone.

Your instructor read out six characters. Open IPT, make an account and type them in, and this week's work is on the screen. An account is $4.99 USD once here, or at the App Store's price for your country inside the iPhone app. You keep it, on every device you sign in on.

Recordings stay between a performer and their instructor. Nobody else in the studio can hear them, they are never public, and the performer can delete their own take.

Works on iPhone, and in any browser: Chromebook, iPad, Android, laptop.

What IPT costs

$4.99 once. Instructors and performers, every feature, on every device you sign in on.

No subscription, no renewal, and nothing per student per year.

Bought once, by the person who will use it. Buy here and the charge appears on your statement as IPT PRACTICE APP. If something goes wrong, write to us and we will sort it out.

Buying inside the iPhone app goes through the App Store instead: same account, same one-off purchase, at the price Apple sets for your country, and the charge and the refund are Apple's. Refunds says who does what.

Support

Mail sent here is read by a person. There is no support form and no ticket number.
